God's Hidden Strategy: You Are the Trojan Horse

Kenneth Davis Season 5 Episode 8

Send us a text

Have you ever endured a painful season that seemed to have no purpose? A trial you didn't deserve, a hardship that appeared senseless? After an unexpected hospitalization that threatened my life, I've returned with a revelation that completely transformed how I view suffering.

Drawing from the ancient story of the Trojan Horse and Paul's powerful words in 2 Corinthians 4, this episode reveals how believers often function as divine "Trojan Horses" in this world—appearing ordinary on the outside yet carrying extraordinary power within. "We have this treasure in earthen vessels," Paul writes, describing how our fragile human frames contain the very resurrection power of Christ.

The enemy understands this reality better than many of us do. Your suffering isn't random; it's often strategic spiritual warfare against the treasure you carry. When facing trials not of your own making, recognize that God may be positioning you precisely where someone needs the life-giving power you contain. My medical crisis placed me in proximity to healthcare workers and fellow patients I would never have encountered otherwise. In our suffering, we become God's agents in places that need His presence most.

This understanding doesn't minimize pain or suggest we pretend everything is fine. The challenges are genuine. But beneath the surface of our struggles lies divine purpose—the opportunity to manifest God's power in places that would otherwise remain untouched by His presence. Your current difficulty might be the very vehicle God is using to deliver His power to those who desperately need it.

Join me in discovering how to stop asking "why" about your suffering and start asking "what" God wants to accomplish through it. If you're enduring a trial not of your own making, this message is specifically for you—your life may be the Trojan Horse that delivers God's resurrection power exactly where it's needed most.

Speaker 2:

Tranquility Base. Here the Eagle has landed. Hey, this is Brother Ken at Another Look Podcast. It is a beautiful Saturday morning, early in the morning and I am blessed. I'm blessed to be back.

Speaker 2:

Some of you have been reaching out and trying to find out what's going on, because you haven't heard from me since March and it's May, and you know that's not my normal MO, right, yeah, but you know it's been challenging had to be hospitalized, had a medical scare that was unforeseen and yeah, it was challenging and there's a lot of ways you can look at it. There's a lot of ways I looked at it. And yeah, it was scary, yeah, it was life threatening, but I'm here and I'm here because God has purpose for me. God has me on mission and I'm staying resolute to that mission. And I know last time we spoke, um, I said I would uh, finish the episode on finding rest in God and in the last episode I was going to talk about our final rest, our eternal rest in heaven, and I still promise to bring that. But, um, let me just say this Um, I have to build back up my energy, I have to build back up my um mental capacity to be able to do that I'm working on my preparation, I am studying, I am in the presence of God to get more understanding and I'm also living it a little bit because I was almost there. But God is gracious, god is good and I'm grateful for God because he spared my life. And, um, you know, I, I'm grateful and um, in the meantime, um, you know I've been away, I've been resting, um, but God has been stirring my spirit for a few weeks saying get back in it, get back on mission, get back on to your podcast, share the gospel, share the word of God with those who need to hear it.

Speaker 2:

And I have not been obedient. I'll be honest. I have not been obedient and I do apologize to you all. I repented before God, but I do want to apologize to I repented before God, but I do want to apologize to all of you for the time off.

Speaker 2:

Amazingly, I didn't think there would be a lot of downloads. Not that the downloads and the numbers are what's important, but sometimes you think you know, what does it matter if I'm away? Because, you know, sometimes you get into that self-pity mode where you think, ah, people don't care anyway, but actually people do care. For two months, I mean, the downloads have been crazy, but that's just a signal of the fact that I'm doing what God said to do. I'm being obedient and God is the one who does the increase. God is the one who does the watering. I'm just planting the seed and I'm grateful for that opportunity. I'm grateful for that privilege. Excuse me, that was me coughing, I'm human, but um. So what I'm going to be doing, until I build up my energy and build up my mental capacity to go back to what I was doing before is I'm going to share some things. I'm going to, when God puts things on my heart to share, I'm going to just share it. Okay, do I have your permission? It actually doesn't matter, because I have God's permission, so I'm going to be obedient, but anyway. So I just want to share this, and you know, it's just so. You know it's May, the 16th, may 17th, sorry, and it's in the morning. Now I know people say well, you know, a lot of us get up early in the morning to spend time with God. I don't have a set time where I spend time with God, it's just throughout my day. And again, it's not because I'm deep and holy, it's just because that's the way God does me. I could be in the bathroom and a lot of times that's where he gets me and he'll keep me in there to share with me.

Speaker 2:

Yesterday I took a break at an hour lunch break at my career place of position and I just, you know I got the opportunity on a Friday. Usually I work remote and you know, normally don't let you out, what do you do? You go get lunch. But the guy said no, just I want you to lay down, I want to talk to you and I lay down, and that's where we had time, consecrated devotion, and that's the way God does me. I don't know about you, but whatever works for you, whatever God well, I won't say whatever works for you, whatever, however, god does it with you. Do that, don't worry about you know the people saying what they say. That's the way God does for them, but we way God does for you is differently. But anyway, I say all that to say this.

Speaker 2:

So I'm up this morning and I'm, you know I wasn't planning on doing anything. God said I need you to put this, I want you to speak on this Because there's someone out there, and this is verbatim in my spirit. He said there's someone out there. That's life depends on this message today that I'm going to share, and again, I'm not going to be before you long I know I've said that before, but I really made it this time but I want to speak about the topic of Trojan horses.

Speaker 2:

I want to speak about the topic of Trojan horses and anybody who knows the Iliad Greek mythology you know about the Trojan horse, where the I can't remember who the army was, but they were at war with another army and they basically gave a gift to the other army, their enemy of a Trojan, of a horse, kind of like the Statue of Liberty. But inside that horse they were there, were hidden, and so that horse, as a gift, was brought into the city. They thought, look at this great gift, and inside they had their enemy, who eventually overcame them and won the war. So why is that relevant to the scriptures I want to share with you? 2 Corinthians 4, 6 through 11. I'm going to read this in the King James Version. Then I'm going to read this in the Amplified, which is one of my favorite versions In the King James.

Speaker 2:

It says for God, and again it's 2 Corinthians 4, 6 through 11. It says for God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. We are perplexed but not in despair. Persecuted but not forsaken. Cast down but not in despair, persecuted but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed, always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body, for we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake. That the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. In the Amplified it reads as thus Excuse me again, for God who said let the light shine out of darkness, is the one who has shown in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory and majesty of God, clearly revealed in the face of Christ.

Speaker 2:

For we have this precious treasure, the good news about salvation and unworthy earthen vessels of human frailty, so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be shown to be from God his sufficiency and not from ourselves. We are pressured in every way, hedged in but not crushed. Perplexed, unsure of finding a way out but not driven to despair. Hunted down and persecuted, but not deserted, to stand alone. Hunted down and persecuted but not deserted to stand alone. Struck down but never destroyed, always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the resurrection life of Jesus may also be shown in our body For we who live are constantly experiencing the threat of being handed over to death for Jesus' sake so that the resurrection life of Jesus also may be evidenced in our mortal body, which is subject to death. May the Lord add a blessing to the reading of his word and sanctify these truths in our hearts. So, wise Brother Ken, give me the connection, minister of the Gospel, give me the connection between the Trojan horse and the scripture.

Speaker 2:

Glad, you asked, but let me first give this sidebar, this caveat, as we say in the legal field, for those who are going through things, and you know what the source is there are those of you who go through things and it's because of your poor decisions. This is not. This message is not for you. Again, I'm going to repeat that there are some of you who are going through things because of poor choices and decisions. This message is not for you. There are some of you who are going through things because of things that you're reaping, kind of which you've sown. You've sown an evil and now you're reaping evil. This message is not for you.

Speaker 2:

What this message is for is for you and you who, in the sound of my, as your ears are perking up, in the sound of my, as your ears are perking up, in the sound of my voice. I want you to understand something. This is for you who have done nothing for what you're experiencing. In other words, you did nothing to reap what you're going through. You did not make a poor choice or decision related to what you're going through, but you're going through. You did not make a poor choice or decision Related to what you're going through, but you're going through something Really difficult.

Speaker 2:

This message is for you, for those and it's for those people who are, like I said, are going through things Not of your own doing, but you have A Relationship with God. You are a believer. Here's the thing. I'm not saying this to make you feel better. This is from the throne to you. The reason why you're going through. It is because God's using you. What you're going through has a purpose beloved, and God's using you for something greater.

Speaker 2:

So what does that mean? Listen, inside of you, inside of your earthen vessel, you have the spirit of the living God. God dwells in you. You have been filled with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the one who is the deliverer. Who is the deliverer? The power of God is dispensed in and through you by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Speaker 2:

This is where verse 7 comes in. You have this precious treasure. You have God himself. You have the good news of the gospel inside of your body, inside of your human vessel, so that his greatness and his surpassing power will be shown through you. But it's not about you, it's about God.

Speaker 2:

That's an enemy. This is the thing. The enemy knows this. That's why he's pressuring you on every way, but you haven't been crushed. That's why you're going through perplexities, but you're not in despair. That's why sometimes you're hunted down and you're going through persecution, but you're not alone, and you know it. You may be struck down physically, emotionally and mentally, but you're not destroyed. And why is this all happening? Because you're carrying around in your body the dying of Jesus. So you got to understand something Jesus died so that the Christ the Christ, meaning the anointing can be poured out into the earth, into vessels, into his apostles, into those who believe on him. And in that Christ was not only the power of God but the resurrection life. The resurrection life of Jesus was poured out. So why is that important? Because it allows us to speak life into dead situations. It causes us to be able to speak or to lay hands and cause things that are supposed to die to come to life if it's the will of God. So we are that Trojan horse. He uses us to be handed over to people who would seek to put us to death, so that we can be a I guess you say an agent of the kingdom, brought into a situation where we are used by God to deliver the power of God, the resurrection life of Jesus, into other people who are in need of it.

Speaker 2:

Let me give you an example. I've been through situations where I've gone through hard times not of my own doing, situations where I've gone through hard times not of my own doing, and through all that, I may have gone into a hospital, or I may have gone into situations where I met someone medical person or someone else who may be a patient, whether I was there as a patient myself or what have you. I'm not saying this has always happened, but I'm saying this has happened to me where it just so happened. I got to plant a seed or lead someone to the Lord or speak to them, just just just being nice to them, smiling with them, whatever it may be. I don't take anything for granted, big or small, and it's allowed me the opportunity to, or it's allowed me to be used by God to bring the gospel to them. I'll give you another example With some things I've gone through. Even before I was in the hospital, you know I was dealing with a medical challenge that basically, for some people, will or has led to the expiration of their life. Yeah, I'm just some tough things I'm dealing with, but it doesn't. It depends on it's. It's all about perspective, it's all in how you look at it, but through this tough situation, it's brought my family closer together, not my immediate family Me and my kids and my wife have always been close but I'm talking about me and my sisters, my siblings. It's brought us closer Because, think about it, death is sobering, death is very sobering, and you know life or death situations are very sobering, and you know life or death situations are very sobering, and there's something about when you have been um, given news that may lead to death.

Speaker 2:

There's something very um it. It causes you to really strip away all the stuff that's not important. It makes you look at life a little differently, because you now look at life like you're on a clock now and you start looking and saying, okay, I have X amount of whatever time and I'm not saying that's habitually. They did not say to me hey, you have X amount of weeks or days or months or years to live. They didn't say that to me. Okay, so relax, keep your brother in prayer. Though they did not say to me hey, you have X amount of weeks or days or months or years to live. They didn't say that to me. Okay, so relax, keep your brother in prayer though, because it's something closer to that, but not there yet, thank God. However, it makes you really look at what's really important and what's not important, and you realize something Life is too short to be dealing with pity or trivial stuff.

Speaker 2:

The petty stuff is really not worth it and petty people aren't worth it. No disrespect. But I've learned to shed some people from my life who were petty. You know people I used to wink at that, used to say little side comments and think they'd throw little barbs and think it was cute, and they really were showing disrespect. I've cut them. Cut about my life Because I don't have time for their pettiness, I don't need their validation, I don't need their pettiness. And it's not to say I don't love them, it just means I love myself enough to not put myself through that again. Amen, that's a lesson right there. No-transcript.

Speaker 2:

Why are you going through this is because you, beloved, have this precious treasure in you. You have the power of God in you. You have the resurrection life of Christ in you, and the enemy knows that. That's why he's putting all this pressure on you. That's why he's perplexing you, that's why he's hunting you down and persecuting you. That's why he's striking you down, persecuting you. That's why he's striking you down, because you always are carrying in your body both the death and the resurrection of Jesus and because of that you're constantly going through those things. Because the enemy wants you to either one give it up or, in other words, stop speaking on the name of Jesus, similar to what they did in the book of Acts. They told the disciples stop speaking in the name of Jesus. Stop speaking in his name. That's what the enemy wants you to do. Stop speaking his name.

Speaker 2:

I realized that when I went through what I went through Me going into the hospital wasn't because of anything I did. It was unforeseen. It had nothing to do with other things. A lot of people like to think that it's what it is, but it's not. It's unexpected. I'm foreseeing it. It was nothing I did that caused it, but yet I went through it. But it's because the enemy wants me to compromise. He wants me to stop, and he almost did it. I mean, for two months I was like I'm not doing this Part of it was because you you know, I don't know, I really don't know.

Speaker 2:

I mean, yet I went to work. I still worked in my career, you know, you know. So if I could do that, how could I not get back on this mic and deliver the word of God? I really had to deal with God didn't really deal with me. I had to deal with myself and check myself. Say how dare I do that? Beloved, listen to me.

Speaker 2:

Whatever you're going through, it's okay, let it run its course, because God's using you. He's strategically placing you in places you could not be placed before. Without going through what you're going through. But also understand you're on mission. God is using you. You are a Trojan horse because inside of you is the power of God, the purpose of God and the resurrection life of God that God's going to use you to go into situations and places and around people who are going to be exposed to you through what you're going through. You just have to be prepared that when that time comes, you deliver the word of God. You deliver, you demonstrate and manifest the power of God and you let the resurrection life of God course through you into others and you speak life into dead situations. God's using you. Get prepared Because he is using you for this purpose. And I know you may be thinking but why do I have to go through it this way? Because that's the way God intended it to be. That's the will of the Lord. Don't fight it, just ask him and I've said this so many times before Stop asking him why you're going through it and ask him what do you want me to do? What do you want me to learn? Is this for a greater purpose? Now, if he says nothing, you wait until he says something, but I understand he may be saying something to you today through this word. So I pray this has been a blessing to you. You are fit for the Master's use and he's using you for others. Let your light shine out of that darkness. Let the glory and the majesty of God be revealed, as it was in the face of Christ. Let it be revealed through you to others, because it's not about us, it's about God. I pray you are blessed. I hope this message has reached you well and again, keep your brother in prayer. I will be back on the wagon soon and until then I'm going to deliver these small little words of encouragement. I pray it was a blessing to you Love you. Hey, thank you for listening to another look podcast.

Speaker 2:

For now we're going to offer the call of salvation and I'm going to offer you two scriptures. The first one is Romans 10.9, because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. The other one, ephesians 2.8.9, for by grace, you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing. It is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. So now I'm going to ask you to pray this with me, in faith, and I want you to believe that everything you pray is true and God will answer. So pray this after me, lord, and I want you to believe that everything you pray is true and God will answer. So pray this after me, lord.

Speaker 2:

I admit I am a sinner. I need and want your forgiveness. I accept your death as the penalty for my sin. I recognize that your mercy and grace is a gift you offer to me because of your great love, not based on anything I have done. Cleanse me and make me your, your child. By faith, I receive you into my heart as the Son of God and as Savior and Lord of my life. From now on, help me live for you, with you in control, in Jesus' precious name, amen.
